Lighting

This is a short, but sweet tip. Ever go out to buy light bulbs and wonder which one is best? Which will be brighter or which will give a warm glow? It really all depends on how that light is being used. Task lighting, general lighting, accent lighting etc. (this is a different tip all together, which I will cover in the future). Really, I want to touch on lighting temperature and light output. That is where Kelvins and Lumens come into play. Kelvins measures light temperatures (from a warm yellow glow to a brighter cooler almost blue color). Always remember, the higher the kelvin number, the cooler/ more blue your light will be. And lumens is your light output. The higher the lumens, the brighter the light. So when buying bulbs, think lumens not watts Also, going energy efficient with LEDs is definitely the way to go, so be sure to swap out those halogens! Happy Designing!
